Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on October 25, 2023 with the center director and staff. There were 17 school age children present, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were playing "Minute to win It" games and eating afternoon snack. A total of 7 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed. Staff files were submitted electronically on 10/31/2023.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-B
Description: Based on review of 2 medications, the facility failed to ensure medication shall be given to a child only with written authorization from the parent. Evidence: The center had a completed allergy action plan, but there was no parent signature to authorize the center to administer the medications to the child.

Plan of Correction: Center staff will request the parent to provide written authorization for the medications.
