63.2 Child Abuse & Neglect

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 10/18/2023 at approximately 11:30am and concluded on 10/18/2023 at approximately 12:45pm. There were a total of 37 children with 9 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, cooking flapjacks, engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-C
Description: Based on review of employee information, the center did not ensure that staff members submit the results of a tuberculosis screening every two years of the date of the initial screening.

Evidence: There was no documentation that Staff #5 had a tuberculosis screening within the previous 2 years.

Plan of Correction: Center will obtain a new tuberculosis screening for staff #5 within 10 days.
