Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 11/1/2023 from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, and staff records were reviewed on 11/1/2023 at the main office. There were 28 children in care, ages three years to five years, in two groups under the care of four staff. The Licensing Inspector reviewed five children?s records, two medications and associated records, five staff records, and other program records. The children were observed doing napping and beginning to wake up.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A
Description: Based on observation and record review, the center failed to have a person in each grouping of children who was currently certified in first aid and CPR.

EVIDENCE:
Staff 1 was alone with napping children during the inspection, and the record shows that first aid and CPR certification expired in 10/17/2023. Staff 1 stated they were scheduled to take it again on 11/14/2023, and this was confirmed by Staff 6.

Plan of Correction: The staff person is scheduled to have first aid/CPR certification training on 11/14/2023.
