Technical Assistance:
Discussed requirements for program leads and that designated program leads may not have the majority of their job responsibilities fall outside of being the designated classroom program leader.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:00am-12:00pm. There were 21 children directly supervised by 5 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Center management reported that there were no medications for children on site. Children were observed being held while bottle fed, coloring, and playing freely. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-340-D
Description: Based on interviews and record review, there was not in each grouping of children at least one staff member who meets the qualifications of a program leader or program director.
Evidence:
On the date of inspection Staff 1 and Staff 2 were the supervising staff in the Two Year Old classroom. Neither staff member had documented qualification that meet the criteria for a program leader.

Plan of Correction: A qualified program leader shall remain in the classroom at all times. Program leader's job responsibilities will include those specified for that position, any additional responsibilities out side of program leader will be minimal and not for a prolonged period of time.
