Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm. There were 38 children in care being supervised by 5 staff. The children were observed resting and participating in free-play activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and four staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on review of the infant room it was determined that not all hazardous substances were kept locked to prevent access by children. Evidence: A spray bottle that was reported to be soap and water and spray bottle of bleach and water solution was observed on the handwashing sink of the infant room.

Description: Based on interviews and observation of the infant room it was determined that not all hazardous substances that are not kept in original containers are labeled with their contents. Evidence: A spray bottle with liquid that was not labeled was observed on the handwashing sink in the infant room. It was reported that the contents in the spray bottle were soap and water.

Description: Based on observation and interview it was determined that not all children were provided with a crib. Evidence: Seven infants were observed in the infant room that were under 12 months old. Six cribs were observed in the infant room. Child A (4 Months) did not have a designated crib assigned to them.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-570-A
Description: Based on interviews and observation of the toddler room it was determined that protective belts were not used for infant seats. Evidence: A table was observed in the toddler room that had eight bucket seats on the table. The protective belts were not observed in the bucket seats. Staff reported that the belts were removed because the children were taking them out of the seats.
