Technical Assistance:
Discussed that keys should not be stored in the locks of cabinets that contain materials that are required to remain locked.

Discussed spray floor cleaner attached to a floor mop must be locked or the cleaner removed from the apparatus and locked when not in use.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today at 11:00am. There were 54 children directly supervised by 14 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in Montessori activities, dancing, handwashing, and eating lunch. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: REPEAT VIOLATION

Based on observation, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
Children's medication was observed in an unlocked cabinet in the Older Toddler Classroom.

Plan of Correction: A child proof lock was placed on the cabinet.
