Consultation was given on model forms, updated information and training on the VA DOE Licensing website childcareva.com. All staff must complete the DSS Pre-Service Training within 90 days of employment. The link to the training is found under the professional training and development page on the DOE website.
Allergy list should be placed in each classroom in a place that is not accessible to parents to protect confidentiality.

An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted. Observed 7 classrooms in the center with direct care staff in ratio for supervision. Children were waking up from rest time, transition to hand washing and afternoon snack (animal crackers and fruit). Reviewed medication on-site, training for staff, 1 newly hired staff record and a sample of children's records as well physical space and emergency preparation. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Please be aware that the plan of correction must be provided within 5 days of receipt of the inspection notes if you want it displayed on the website. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8 Description: Based on medication review and staff statement, a child's is missing a medication listed on the allergy care plan.
Evidence:
Child #1's written care plan calls for Benadryl to be on-site and administered in case of a exposure to a documented allergen.Plan of Correction: The center will request the family bring in the medication.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-B Description: Based on record review, the center orientation form does not include all required elements.
Evidence:
Abusive Head Trauma, SIDS and Safe Sleep and First Aid/CPR training are not listed on the orientation documentation for Staff #1.Plan of Correction: The Director will review the DOE orientation model form and be sure to include any missing elements.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-P Description: Based on record review, 4 of 8 injury forms are incomplete.
Evidence:
The 4 reports did not include the time the parent was notified.Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to complete all parts of an injury report.
