Technical Assistance:
Discussed that disinfecting wipes do not meet the requirements for sanitizing.

Discussed current absence of a program director.

Discussed annual training subject matter requirements may differ than parochial training.

Discussed the VDOE requirement for sleeping mats. Currently the sleeping mats can be washed but not sanitized and therefore do not meet the requirement for an appropriate rest mat.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:20pm-1:45pm. There were 12 children directly supervised by 2 staff. The physical plant, 2 staff records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. No children present had any medication on site. Children were observed watching a children's program, eating lunch, and washing their hands. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: Based on record review, the center failed to obtain the results of a fingerprint criminal record check once every five years.

Description: Based on record review, the center did not have written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma, safe sleeping practices, and sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
