Comments:
An unannounced non-mandated inspection was conducted today from 10:15 am to 11:10 am. There were 23 children in care of 5 staff members supervising. The infants were observed sleeping and eating morning snack. The 2's and preschoolers were observed engaged in movement activities and small group play. 3 staff records, 3 children's records, medications, and the emergency drill log was reviewed for compliance. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to the department within 5 business days from receipt. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only. Any plans of correction not received within 5 business days will result in the plans not appearing on the Violation Notice and public website. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-340-D
Description: Based on observation, record review and staff interview, each grouping of children did not have at least one staff member who met the qualifications of a program leader.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1 and Staff # 2 were observed working in the Infant B classroom.
2. Staff # 2 stated that Staff # 1 was the program lead for the Infant B classroom. Staff # 2 also stated that Staff # 4 also works primarily in the infant B classroom but was temporarily helping in the Preschool classroom.
3. The documentation in Staff # 1 showed that she was not lead qualified.
4. Staff # 4's record had documentation of college education from an international institution that had not been translated. Program lead qualifications for Staff # 4 could not be determined.

Plan of Correction: Staff # 1 will obtain more trainings to be lead qualified. Staff # 4 will have translated international transcripts completed by 1-19-24.
