An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm in response to a self-reported incident to the department involving behavioral guidance. Interviews were conducted and documentation was reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-400-B Description: Based on interviews it was determined that behavioral guidance was not always constructive in nature or age and stage appropriate. Evidence: It was reported through interviews that on 12/01/2023 during rest time staff A was observed using gruff voice tones with child A exclaiming for them to "Go to sleep!" and "Stop that!" Staff A is then observed roughly patting child A on the left arm three times and again gruffly exclaims "Go to sleep!" When child A began to hang their leg off of the cot Staff A tapped child A's leg with their toe and gruffly exclaimed for them to "Get back on your cot!" Plan of Correction: Not available online.
