An unannounced complaint investigation was initiated along with licensing inspector Laura Brindle on 10/30/23 in response to a complaint received in the licensing office related behavior guidance and nutrition and food services. Based on a review of documentation and interviews conducted, the allegation regarding behavior guidance was determined to be valid. There was insufficient evidence to support the allegation related to nutrition and food services. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-400-A Complaint related: No Description: Based on a review of video and audio footage, the center did not always interact with children to provide needed help, comfort, and support.
Evidence: On October 19,2023 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Staff #1 was observed holding, a 15-month-old, who was crying. The staff member was heard telling the child, ?Please don?t cry in my ear? and ?I?m not going to hold you if you keep crying.? The staff member was observed placing the crying child on the floor and walking away.Plan of Correction: The employee put the child down after approximately 20 seconds. She went back and picked the child back up. Plan of correction is employees ask for help from the office if they are feeling frustrated.
