An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director on December 15, 2023, beginning at 9:12am and ending at 11:38am. There were 25 children, ages 6 months through 5 years old, in the care of 5 direct care staff. The children were observed playing with toys, doing circle time and practicing for holiday performances. Five children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Four staff records were reviewed and in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. The menu, daily attendance, and emergency drill log were reviewed. The most recent evacuation drill was documented as 11/27/2023. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented as 1/16/2023. The most recent lockdown drill was documented as 6/13/2023. The most recent health inspection was dated 2/28/2023. The most recent fire inspection was dated 9/13/2023.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-80-A Description: Based on a review of documentation, the center failed maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. Evidence: The written attendance in the toddler classroom did not have any children signed in for the day. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B Description: Based on observation, the center staff failed to ensure that all the diapering surfaces were used only for diapering or cleaning children.
