8VAC20-790 Subsidy Regulations.

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted on January 17, 2024 from 10:55 A.M.-2:15 P.M. There were 72 children present with 16 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1 Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that all staff had certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the 90th day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #8's date of hire was 09/18/2023. There was no documentation that CPR certification had been completed. The certification was required by 12/18/2023.
2. Administration verified that Staff #8 did not have a current certification in CPR.Plan of Correction: Staff will complete CPS training and all new staff will be signed up for a training within 90 days of employment.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-2 Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that all staff had certification in first aid by the 90th day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #8's date of hire was 09/18/2023. There was no documentation that First Aid certification had been completed. The certification was required by 12/18/2023.
2. Administration verified that Staff #8 did not have a current certification in First Aid.Plan of Correction: Staff will obtain the First Aid training and all new staff will be signed up for a training within 90 days of employment.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-F Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that the three hour annual health and safety update was completed annually.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1,#4,#5,and #6 did not complete the annual health and safety update for 2023.
2. Administration verified that the training had not been completed.Plan of Correction: Staff will complete the necessary training. Administration will ensure compliance moving forward by having a system in place to complete this training yearly.
