An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on January 24, 2024 between the hours of 10:00am-12:15pm. There were a total of 31 children with six supervising staff members present. Children were observed during circle time, playing with toys, bottle feeding, and engaged in group activities. A selection of staff and children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22.1-289.011-F Description: Based on observation, the center did not post the violation notice and inspection summary required by the Superintendent.
Evidence:
1. The center did not post the most recent findings required by the Superintendent. The most recent findings was 07/13/2023; however, the center had the 01/04/2023 findings posted.Plan of Correction: The findings of the most recent inspection was posted at the time of the inspection. In the future, inspection findings will be posted as soon as practical after the inspection.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. In the diaper changing area of the Toddler classroom, a bottle of bleach and water was located on a high counter.Plan of Correction: The bottle was locked up at the time of the inspection. Staff will ensure that all hazardous substances are locked up and not accessible to children.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-G Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances not kept in original containers did not clearly indicate their contents.
Evidence:
1. In the diapering area of the Toddlers classroom, a clear bottle of bleach and water was observed on a high counter. The bottle did not clearly indicate the contents of the bottle.Plan of Correction: All bottles that are not in the original containers will be clearly marked with the contents.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-440-B Description: Based on observation, cribs were not identified for use for a specific child.
Evidence:
1. Two cribs in the Infant classroom were not identified for use for a specific child. The cribs did not contain the names of the children that were occupying them.Plan of Correction: The children's names will be placed on the cribs.
