8VAC20-780-560J Tables should be sanitized with a 2 step process where soap and water is used first then wiped and sanitizer is sprayed second and allowed to dry for 2 minutes prior to wiping away.

8VAC20-780-560F There must be a component served from each category for lunch each day.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 01/10/2024 from 10:55am to 2:50pm. There were 163 children ages 2 months to age 5 years old supervised by 27 staff. The physical plant, programming, attendance, menus, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, 12 medications with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, emergency supplies, and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in lunch, building, dramatic play, reading and nap. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Description: (Repeat Violation) Based on observation, the center did not ensure that all areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.

Evidence: The cabinet doors in the Preschool 3B classroom (ages 3-4 years old) were broken away from the hinge and the doors were falling forward causing them to stick out in such a way as to be a risk to snagging a child?s skin from the sharp corners and a risk that the doors may fall on a child and injury them.

2)During inspection in the Preschool 3A classroom (ages 3-4 years old), there was an unlocked cabinet that contained 2 air fresheners, a container of sanitizer, and antibacterial cleaner.

Description: (Repeat Violation) Based on observation the center did not ensure that the diapering surface was cleaned and sanitized after each use and that the diapering surface should only be used for diapering or cleaning children.

Evidence:
1)In the Preschool 2A classroom (ages 2-3 years old) on the diapering surface was stored children?s artwork and art supplies.
2)In the Toddler classroom, a staff member changed a child's diaper then sprayed a cleaner on the diapering surface and wiped it clean. No sanitizer was used as required. To properly sanitize the diapering surface, the sanitizer should be sprayed on the surface and the solution allowed to dry for at least 2 minutes.
