Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 1-29-24 and concluded on 1-29-24. There were 19 children present with 5 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:20am and concluded at 12:40pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on review of the facility the center failed to ensure that hazardous materials were kept in a locked place that would prevent access by the children.

Evidence:
The storage closet located near the bathroom used by the children was unlocked and there was a bottle of bleach and a bottle of round up that was sitting on the floor.
The unlocked staff cabinet located near the bathroom had an iron supplement on a shelf accessible to the children.

Plan of Correction: Administration corrected during inspection. Staff will be reminded to verify that hazardous items are in a locked area and inaccessible to the children.
