An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on February 12, 2024 between the hours of 10:15am-11:45am. There were a total of 10 children with three supervising staff members present. Children were observed during bathroom breaks, handwashing, centers, lunch, engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. A selection of staff and children records and other documents were reviewed. The physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-A Description: Based on record review and interview, the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course was not completed within 90 calendar days of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 2's record (Start date-10/10/2023) did not contain documentation of completion of the Virginia Department of Education sponsored course.
2. Staff #4 confirmed that Staff #2 did not complete the Virginia Department of education sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.Plan of Correction: The staff member will complete the department's sponsored orientation course.
