An unannounced inspection was initiated on 02/07/2024 in response to a complaint that was received by the licensing department on 1/31/2024 regarding allegations in the areas of supervision, behavioral guidance and building maintenance. The inspection was initiated on 2/7/2024 and completed on 2/20/2024. On 2/7/2024, the inspector was on site from approximately 4:44 pm to 5:45 pm. Interviews were completed, observations were made in the center, and documentation was reviewed.
The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation does not support the allegation; therefore, the complaint is determined to be not valid. Though not a part of the original complaint, there were violations found during the inspection regarding CPR and First Aid certification requirements. See the violation notice for more details.
Please complete the plan of correction and date to be corrected for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today. You will need to specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Just writing the word corrected is not acceptable. Your plan of correction must contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A-1 Complaint related: No Description: REPEAT VIOLATION
Based on observation, review of documentation and interview, the center did not ensure that at least one staff in each classroom or area where children are present had current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate to the age of the children in care as required.
Evidence:
1. The record of staff #1 (date of employment: 10/5/2023) contained a CPR certification dated 1/23/2024.
2. Administration and staff #1 acknowledged that staff #1 had supervised children independently prior to being CPR certified.Plan of Correction: All teachers who are not certified with CPR/First Aid with be placed with
a teacher who is certified at all times. All staff will be certified within the allotted time given by DOE.
