An unannounced renewal Inspection took place on February 15, 2024 between the hours of approximately 11:45 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. There were 3 classrooms observed with a total of 46 children with 6 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed eating lunch, napping and other organized activities. Positive interaction between staff and children were observed. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, medication and emergency procedures was conducted during this inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-440-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that rest mats were identified for use by a specific child.
Evidence:
1. Staff #4 was observed removing rest mats from a pile, putting sheets on the mats and placing them on the floor for the children to nap on.
2. Child #1, Child #6 and Child #7 were observed lying on the mats.

Evidence:
1. There was approximately 3 to 4 inches between rest mats occupied by Child #1 and Child #6.

Evidence: There was artwork, a box, a bin with puzzle pieces and a roll of paper towels covering a diapering surface in the Toddler classroom.Plan of Correction: Notified staff that it does not happen again

Based on observation, the center did not ensure that food containers were clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner when food is brought home.
