An unannounced on-site renewal inspection was conducted on 02/15/2024. There were 97 children, ages 2 months-6 years, and 24 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector observed the following: arrival, breakfast, free choice activities, and large motor play outside. A total of 5 children?s records and 7 staff records, were reviewed. The inspector discussed the following with staff: attendance requirements, playground safety. The inspector arrived at 8: 30 AM and departed at 10:40 AM.
The violation notice was amended on 02/29/2024.

Evidence:
Staff # 2 hired on 01/08/2024 and lived outside of the state of Virginia in the past five years in a non NFF state (national fingerprint file). Staff # 2 is required to have a criminal background prior to starting the position.Plan of Correction: The Ex Director will check to verify the status of the background check.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-N Description: Based on review of the playground safety plan, the center failed to ensure that all required procedures were established.
Evidence:
The playground safety plan was missing the following procedure: method of maintaining resilient surface.Plan of Correction: The playground safety plan has been updated and all staff are aware.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-420-A Description: Based on review of the family handbook, the center failed to ensure that all required policies were provided to the parent in writing.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-490-E Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that any surface that has been contaminated with body fluids shall be cleaned and sanitized.
Evidence:
An infant spit up on the floor, the teacher used a baby wipe to clean up the body fluid.Plan of Correction: The Ex. Director will ensure that all staff are trained in bodily fluids and how to clean and sanitize the area.
