This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 5/11/2020 and concluded on 5/13/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present and 1 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-70 Description: Based on a review of staff records, the following staff records were not kept for each staff person:
Evidence:
1. Staff A's (date of hire: 3/2/2020) record did not contain documentation that two or more
references as to character and reputation as well as competency were checked before
employment.
2. Staff B's (date of hire: 2/17/2020) record contained documentation that one of the two
required references were checked before employment.Plan of Correction: I will contact the employees to get updated references and reach out to references via phone and email.
