Technical Assistance:
Discussion of the Environmental Sanitation Report documentation. CDC is currently working with the local Health Department to obtain and submit. Once this documentation is completed, it will be sent to the Licensing Inspector.

Discussion that substantial improvement and organization to all staff and children files was noticed. All previous cited violations in regard to needed documentation was corrected.

Comments:
This renewal inspection was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 03/08/2024, between the hours of 9:30 am to 12 pm. There were 24 children present, ranging from infant to preschool-age, with 4 classroom staff supervising. The children were engaged in the following: St. Patrick themed crafts, center activities in their room, tummy time, diapering, hand washing, bathroom breaks, outside time, getting ready for lunch, and other organized activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration; physical plant; staffing and supervision; programming; medication; special care and emergencies; and nutrition. A total of 5 children files, and 4 staff files were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined that there were (2) non-compliances with the applicable standards. These violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the center.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-A
Description: Based on review, 1 of 8 staff files indicated that not all staff members submitted documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening (TB) within 30 days of their start date.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (03/08/2024), TB documentation was not available for review for Staff #8.
2. The listed start date for Staff #8 was 02/05/2024.

Plan of Correction: TB documentation will be obtained and placed on file.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-A
Description: Based on review, 1 of 8 staff files indicated that not all staff had completed the Virginia Department of Education - sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (03/08/2024), a certificate of completion for the 10-hour Virginia Pre-service Training was not available for review for Staff #5.
2. The start date for Staff #5 was listed as 08/14/2023.

Plan of Correction: The 10-hour Virginia Pre-service Training will be completed and the certificate will go on file.
