Standard 8VAC20-780-200.A was discussed with the administrator. The facility must be able to demonstrate that there is a qualified program director who is regularly on site at least 50% of the center's hours of operation.

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 03/05/2024. The inspector arrived at 1:05 PM and departed at 2:45 PM. There were 51 children present, ranging in ages from infant to five years, with 9 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program and discussed with the administrator during the exit interview.

Based upon observation and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that areas and equipment are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Evidence:
1. The caulking holding the sink to the wall in the preschool classroom has come loose. The sink is no longer securely attached to the wall.
2. There was a pair of sharp kitchen shears in the sink in the kitchen. There is not a door or secure closure to the kitchen from the preschool classroom occupied by the children. There was no staff stationed in the kitchen.
