A non-mandated inspection was conducted with an outside agency on February 20, 2024 from 10:04 A.M.-12:30 P.M., and concluded on February 26, 2024. The investigation was in response to a self-reported incident that occurred on 02/09/2024 regarding behavioral guidance. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff and supervision, programs, and background checks. Three staff were interviewed, video footage reviewed, and two staff and one child record was reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-400-B Description: Based on interviews and review of video footage, the center failed to ensure that behavioral guidance shall be constructive n nature, age & stage appropriate, and shall be intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts.
Evidence:
On 02/09/2024 Staff #1 threw a marker at Child #1 who was not sleeping during naptime, hitting the child on the back.Plan of Correction: When administration became aware of Staff #1's behaviors toward Child #1 the plan was termination. However, Staff #1 resigned from the position before management could terminate. All staff have been reminded of the proper ways to handle behavioral issues in the classroom. To conduct themselves in a calm manner and to redirect a child in appropriate behavior.
