Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was given and standards were reviewed regarding building maintenance and special feeding needs.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on March 21,2024. The inspector arrived at 10am and departed at approximately 1:45pm. There were 66 children, and 15 staff members present. The inspector observed 6 children?s records and 5 staff records. The Inspector observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection. Children were observed eating lunch, at free play, diapering, bottle feeding, story time, and toileting. Emergency preparedness documents and medication were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented. The violations are listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the Director and Owner at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on record review and interview it was determined the center did not ensure areas and equipment of the center be maintained in a safe and operable condition.

Evidence:
1.In the three year old classroom, the play kitchen set had two separate areas of cracked plastic.
2.In the two?s classroom the television placed on top of a shelf was unsecured, which poses as a tipping hazard. The television was in reach of the children.
3.Staff #1, the center director, confirmed that the kitchen set equipment had cracks and the television was unsecured on the shelf.

Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center will place electric tape over the crack. A work order will be placed to remove the cracked piece of the play kitchen set.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on record review and interview it was determined the center did not ensure hazardous substances such as cleaning materials be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1.In the two year old classroom there was an unlocked can of air deodorizer on the shelf, with ?Keep out of reach of children? on the warning label.
2.Staff #1 confirmed the can of air deodorizer was unlocked.

Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 locked the can of air deodorizer during the time of the inspection. The center will ensure that all hazardous materials will be locked and away from children.
