Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on March 22, 2024, from 9:00am-11:00am. At the time of entrance, (66 ) children were in care with ( 15) staff members present. The inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records. Children were observed engaged in group singing, Legos, magnetic building, and story time. Medications were observed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.

The facility is reminded that a complete renewal application must be submitted prior to expiration of the license on June 10, 2024. Renewal applications should be submitted through the online portal available on the public website at childcareva.com.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-245-J
Description: Based on a review of staff records and medications and staff interview, there is not a staff member trained to administer a rectal medication.
Evidence: Child #1 requires a rectal medication for seizures. Multiple staff have MAT training but there is no staff that has completed the MAT administration of Emergency Rectal Medications in Child Care Programs course.

Plan of Correction: We will get all the staff in the child's classroom trained in rectal administration.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-I
Description: Based on a review of children medications, a child's medication that needs to be administered in an emergency is not in the original container with the prescription label and the prescribers instruction pertaining to dosage, frequency and manner of administration.
Evidence: Child # 2 has a medication to be administered in an emergency. The epi pen is stored without the original container with the prescription label and the prescribers instruction pertaining to dosage, frequency and manner of administration.

Plan of Correction: We will ask the parent to bring in the prescription box with the prescription label.
