Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 12:15 p.m. - 3 :45 p.m. There were 83 children in care being supervised by 13 staff. The children were observed resting and participating in quiet activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of eight child records and six staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-245-J-2
Description: Based on interviews and review of medication it was determined that when the center has agreed to administer medication there was not always staff on site who were trained to administer this specific medication. Evidence: There as an authorization form on file to administer rectal medication for child D. Based on interviews there were no staff on site who were trained to administer this specific medication.

Description: Based on review of medication it was determined that not all medication was returned to the parent or discarded after 14 days when the authorization for medication expires. Evidence: The medication authorization form for over the counter medication on site for child A expired 02/01/24. The medication authorization form for prescription medication on site for child B expired 12/10/23. The medication authorization form for prescription medication on site for child C expired 10/12/23. The medication authorization form for over the counter medication on site for child D expired 11/20/23.
