A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 3/27/2024.There were 44 children present with 9 staff supervising. The children were observed during snack time, art time, and stretch & grow time. A total of 4 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:25 am and concluded at 11:15 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M Description: Based on observation and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure the center shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.
Evidence: Staff confirmed the allergy list in the Caterpillar 2 room was not dated.Plan of Correction: The date was added to the list at the time of the inspection.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation and staff interviews, the center did not ensure hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: Staff confirmed, in Cuddle bugs 2 room, there was an unlocked bottle of bleach water on the shelf above the diaper changing table and no diaper changes were being done at the time.Plan of Correction: Director will discuss this with staff and create an area where the bleach bottles can be stored and locked away.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A Description: Based on record review and staff interview the licensee did not ensure that staff in each classroom or area where children are present shall have, within 90 days current certification in CPR and current certification in First Aid
Evidence: The director confirmed that Staff #1 (hire date 6/12/2017) and Staff #2 (hire date 12/18/2022) did not have current certifications in CPR or First Aid.Plan of Correction: Staff attending classes first week in April.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-D Description: (Repeat Violation) Based on record review and staff interview the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill as required.
Evidence: Staff confirmed the center's evacuation drill sheet did not include documentation of evacuation drills in the month of December, 2023.Plan of Correction: This was while a previous director was here. Current director will ensure monthly drills are completed.
