Technical Assistance:
Make sure staff continue to be mindful of spacing and circulating on the playground to ensure adequate supervision for all locations being used by the children.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the director from 9:50 am to 12:15 pm. There were 90 children present with 15 staff supervising. The ages of the children range from 6 months to 8 years. The Licensing Inspector was able to observe diapering procedures, preparation for lunch, outside play, children engaged in water table and play dough activities. Six injury/accident reports were reviewed as well as medications for 8 children as well as 4 allergy care plans.Six staff and five children's files were reviewed. The areas of non compliance is outlined on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: The center shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. The Licensing Inspector observed the cords to wall mounted phones in reach of children in classroom # 2 and #8. The phone cords present a strangulation risk.

Plan of Correction: The cords were placed out of reach of the children.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P
Description: When authorization for medication expires, the medication shall be picked up by the parent within 14 days or the medication must be disposed of by the center or the authorization must be renewed.
The duration of the physician authorization expired on 1/5/24 and the Inhaler for child #1 was not picked up within 14 days nor did the parent renew the authorization nor did the center dispose of the medication.

Plan of Correction: We will return the medication to the parent by close of business today.
