Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding opening up an additional classroom. The classroom was measured. Inspector and program administrator discussed not opening the classroom until it is fully cleared and inspected again by the licensing inspector.

Comments:
A mandated monitoring inspection was conducted on April 9, 2024 from 9:45am-11:45am. There were 96 children in care with 14 staff supervising. Children were observed playing on the playground, gardening, working with recyclable materials, reading books and playing freely. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 10 child records and 10 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure all required information was included in the child's record.

Evidence: Child 9 is missing a second emergency contact. Child 10 is missing addresses for two required emergency contacts.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: In the hallway boys bathroom, there was cleaners and disinfecting materials stored in an unlocked cabinet. In the confetti and discovery classroom, there was cleaners and disinfecting materials stored in an unlocked cabinet. In the hallway of the infant toddler classrooms, hand sanitizer was stored on an open shelf.
