Comments:
A mandated renewal inspection was conducted on April 16, 2024 from approximately 9:35am-11:10am. There were 47children in care with 11 staff supervising. Children were observed playing at stations independently, singing songs, and other organized activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-B
Description: Based on record review, staff did not complete orientation training within seven days of the date of employment.

Evidence: Staff Member 1 had no record of orientation training being completed in their file.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure to document the completed orientation.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation, areas and equipment of the center were not maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.

Evidence:
1- Paint appeared to be chipping in the following areas: the windowsill in the Pre-Primary room, in the infant room on the half door, on the wall near the bookshelf in the Primary 1 room, and on the wall near the door in the Primary 2 room.
2- The infant classroom door, the preprimary classroom door and the primary 2 classroom doors were not closing properly, causing a potential hazard for fingers to be pinched.

Plan of Correction: The rooms will be getting repainted.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-320-B
Description: Based on observation, sinks located near the toilets were not supplied with running warm water that does not exceed 120?F.

Evidence: The water in all the classrooms was cold and did not get warm.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure the water gets warm.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-540-C
Description: Based on observation, the first aid kit did not include all the minimum supplies.

Evidence: The school did not have the minimum of two triangular bandages in their First Aid kit.

Plan of Correction: We will make sure we get 2 triangular bandages
