8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day homes

Technical Assistance:
Discussion of the LOH, adult household members present in the home and those children that are current enrolled.

Comments:
An in-person initial subsidy inspection was conducted by licensing staff and concluded on 08/12/2022, between the hours of 9:45 am to 11:30 am. There were (2) children in care, 6 points, with the 1 vendor. The inspector reviewed (2) adult/household member records, and (4) children
records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined (2) areas of non-compliance with applicable regulation. These violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the vendor.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-F
Description: Based on review, a certificate of completion for the department's annual health and safety update course for 2021 was not available for review.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (08/12/2022), a certificate for the vendor was not available for review for the annual health and safety update training for the past year.
2. The Vendor stated that this course was completed, but the certificate was not available for review and could not be located during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: A copy will be found and/or the new 2022 training certificate will be placed on file by the end of this current year.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-290-A
Description: Based on observation, an area on the premises is accessible to an obvious injury hazard within the play area.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (08/12/2022), the swing set placed in the backyard of the LOH is too close to the brick wall.
2. Child #1 was observed swinging during the inspection. The child's head came very close to this wall.
3. The potential is there that a hazard will occur if a child leans to far back. The arch of the swing is less than 6 feet from the position of the brick wall.

Plan of Correction: The swing set will be moved forward.
