8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today between 10:30am and 11:45am. There were 4 children present with the Vendor for a total of 13 points within the supervision guidelines. The Vendor had one of their own children also present in the program. The children were observed playing outside, eating lunch and watching television. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-270-A
Description: Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances, materials, and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, deodorizers, plant care chemicals, pesticides, and petroleum distillates shall be stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.
Evidence: There were multiple cleaning agent and disinfectants observed in a lower cabinet of the vendors kitchen. The cabinet did not have a lock and the children were observed in the kitchen.

Description: Based on observation, medications were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: Several medications and vitamins were observed sitting on the vendors kitchen counter. The medications and vitamins were not locked.
