- Technical Assistance:
All staff are required to obtain 16 hours of annual training.
This inspection was conducted by licensing using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An initial inspection was initiated and concluded on August 27, 2020. The Director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present during this inspection. The inspector reviewed 2 staff records and 2 children's records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the facility,

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-E Description: Based on an interview with Director, the center failed to ensure that the operational responsibilities of the license ensured that the center's activities, serrvices and facilities were maintained in compliance with these Standards and the center's own policies and procedures.
1. The center's policy is to administer emergency Epi-Pens; however, no staff at the center has been trained in the Medication Administration Training which is required by the Standards if any medication is to be given
Plan of Correction: The Director will complete MAT training as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-H Description: Based on a review of facility records, the facility failed to ensure that evidence of insurance is available for review.
The center did not documentation of current insurance coverage.
Plan of Correction: The Director will request a copy of current insurance coverage.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A Description: Based on record review and interview with Director, staff members did not complete the Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect and the legal requirements for reporting suspected child abused as required by section 63.2-1509 of the Code of Virginia.
Staff #1 and #2's records do not contain documentation of the Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect training.
Plan of Correction: Staff members will complete the Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect training as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-5 Description: Based on a review of staff records and an interview with the Director, the center failed to ensure that there will always be at least one staff member on duty who has obtained within the last three years, instruction in performing the daily health observation of children.
In a review of 2 of 2 staff records, there was no documentation of either staff person having had training on the daily health observation of children.
Plan of Correction: The Director will take the DHO training as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B Description: Based on a review of documents and interview with the Director, the facility failed to obtain annual approval from the health department after the first license.

Plan of Correction: The Director will request documentation of current health inspection from the owner. (Delay due to Pandemic)
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-530-A Description: Based on a review of staff records, the center failed to ensure that there shall be at least one staff member trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rescue breathing as appropriate to the age of the children in care who is on the premises during the center's hours of operation.

Plan of Correction: The staff received the link for First Aid and CPR training and will complete course immediately.
