?8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Technical Assistance:
1. Reviewed list of required bathroom supplies.
2. Discussed diapering requirements.

Comments:
An unannounced subsidy inspection was conducted at 12:05pm. Observed 2 children = 6 points with the vendor. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were playing with toys, eating lunch, and having diaper change. Lunch served included fried chicken, pasta, grapes, milk, and water. The vendor was promptly tending to the needs of the children. The daycare areas of the home were well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-180-B
Description: Based on records reviewed, it was determined that a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival + departure of each child in care as it occurs has not been maintained. Evidence: The last date attendance was recorded was 8/31/22.

Plan of Correction: The vendor said she will update the attendance records for September, and continue to record arrival + departures daily.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-F
Description: Based on records reviewed, it was determined that the vendor has not completed the Virginia Health + Safety training class annually. Evidence: The most recent training certificate for this class was dated 4/24/21.

Plan of Correction: The vendor agreed to complete the class in the next 30-days.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-360-K
Description: Based on observations made, it was determined that bumper pads were placed on a crib used by a child in care today. Evidence: The crib used by Child #1 had bumper pads on all 4 sides.

Plan of Correction: The vendor said she would either remove the bumper pads, or transition the child to a toddler bed. She explained that she was using bumper pads to prevent the child from putting his legs through the slats.
