8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
An unannounced annual Unlicensed Subsidy Health and Safety (USHSI) inspection was conducted on 09/20/2022. There were no children present during the inspection and according to the vendor, children are not enrolled at this time. Vendor is will and prepared to receive children.

The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, and special care and emergencies. Vendor's record and household members records were reviewed to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-F
Description: Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the vendor was unable to demonstrate that she attended the department's health and safety annual update course.
Evidence:
1) The Vendor looked for the most recent 3-hour update course certificate (2021) but could not locate it.

Plan of Correction: Locate and send certifications over to the LI.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-270-A
Description: Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the space used for shelter in place have potentially poisonous substances in reach of children.
Evidence:
1) The vendor stated that the laundry room is used for Shelter-in-place. Upon inspection of the space, detergent bottles and other cleaning agents were observed on the floor and on shelves next to the door.

Plan of Correction: Removed all cleaning agents and toxic liquids from children reach areas.
