8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 11/10/2022, beginning at 10:30 am and ending at 10:55 am. There were 2 children in attendance at the time of the inspection. Required background searches, training certificates and household member information was reviewed. A sample of requirements for daily attendance, child information/records, emergency preparedness planning and supplies were also reviewed. The informationgathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-270-A Description: Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances, such as, cleaning agents, were not stored away from children.
Evidence: There was unlocked cleaning supplies in the upstairs bathroom.Plan of Correction: I will move the cleaner to the kitchen and put the gate up.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-390-F Description: Based on observation, soiled disposable diapers and wipes were not disposed in a leak-proof or plastic-lined storage system that is either food operated or used in such a way that neither the caregiver's hand nor the soiled diaper or wipe touches the exterior surface of the storage system during disposal.
Evidence:
Diapers were observed in a plastic bag on the floor of the upstairs bathroom. There was no step on trash can available in the upstairs bathroom.Plan of Correction: I will move a step on trash can to the upstairs bathroom.
