8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Technical Assistance:
Consultation was provided on preparing bottles to clean the diapering surface with soap & water and then disinfect the surface with each diaper change. Also, mattresses must have a waterproof cover.

Comments:
An announced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on November 28, 2022, beginning at 9:00am and ending at 11:15am. There were no children in attendance at the time of the inspection. Required background searches, training certificates and household member information was reviewed. A sample of requirements for daily attendance, child information/records, emergency preparedness planning, physical plant and first aid supplies were also reviewed. No medication on sight. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-190-B
Description: Vendor did not maintain and keep at the family day home, written or electronic information of the names of persons other than the custodial parent who are authorized to pick up the child.
Evidence:
1. Child #2 and #3 did not have an authorized emergency contact on file.
2. Vendor acknowledged there was no emergency contact on file for Child #2 and Child #3.

Plan of Correction: I will speak to the parents tonight and tell them they must provide an emergency contact.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-390-E
Description: The diapering surface was not cleaned and sanitized after each use.
Evidence:
1. There are no cleaning or other solution products available to clean and sanitize the diapering surface.
2. Vendor acknowledged she was using a cleaning wipe on the diapering surface.

Plan of Correction: I will start using soap & water to clean the diaper surface and then I will spray with disinfectant. I will go buy the things today.
