An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 6/26/19 at Peoples Baptist Church from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm. At the time of the inspection 13 children were present with five staff. The sample size consisted of five children's records and five staff's records. Children and staff were observed during outdoor play, snack time, departure, bathroom break, hand washing, transitions and behavioral guidance. Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-B-3 Description: Based on interview and staff record review, the center failed to establish and implement a procedure to ensure daily simple health screening and exclusion of sick children by a person trained to perform such screenings.
Evidence:
1. The records for the five staff present during the inspection were reviewed. No record had documentation of staff receiving training in daily health screening.
2. The director stated staff observe children upon arrival for signs of illness and talk to the parents when children arrive in the fellowship hall and then again when children go to their classrooms. No staff have been trained in conducting daily health screenings.Plan of Correction: Staff will be trained in daily simple health screening. In the future all staff will be trained in daily simple health screening.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-B-7 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to establish and implement a procedure to ensure all staff are able to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect. Evidence: 1. Five staff records were reviewed. Two staff records had no documentation of completing training in recognizing child abuse and neglect (staff 1 & staff 2). 2. The director stated she was unaware if the two staff completed the training. Plan of Correction: Staff 1 and staff 2 will complete the training in recognizing child abuse and neglect. In the future all new staff will be required to complete the training prior to working with children.
