An annual RECDC inspection was conducted on today's date. The church operates a camp and today the center has 145 children in care with 62 classroom staff in 6 groupings. All groupings are in ratio. The center has rooms with lots of space and supplies for the children to explore. Observed the children having group time, playing games, going to the water slide, snack time, getting ready to go to the pool, working in small groups with counselors . For lunch the children bring their own food from home and the camp has a snack bar where children can buy food. Interaction between staff and children observed in all the groupings. This inspection was started at 10:10 and ended at 1:30. Please call me at 703-203-8659 if you have any questions regarding this visit.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-C-2 Description: Based on the review of staff records and interview with the director it was determined that the RECDC failed to get central registry checks for all the staff at the center. Evidence: After interview with the camp director and review of staff forms , the camp director stated that they did not have central registry background searches done for any of the staff. Plan of Correction: We will have the staff fill them out at our morning meeting tomorrow and send them in.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-A-6 Description: Based on the review of the web site and handbook and interview with the camp director , some of the required written information is missing. Evidence: The center failed to inform the parents and general public about the health requirements for staff and the Public liability insurance. Plan of Correction: We will add the information to our web site.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on the review of 25 staff records, the RECDC failed to get the out of state central registry searches done for 4 staff, the for staff have lived in other states in the last 5 years. Evidence: Out of 25 staff records reviewed, staff A,B,C and D have lived out of state and do not have the out of state Central registry checks done. Plan of Correction: We will request the checks for the staff.
