8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Technical Assistance:
Discussed walking to the local neighborhood playground and the need to get parent permission before she takes the children to play at the playground. A permission form will be sent to the vendor to use.

Comments:
An in-person annual subsidy inspection was conducted on 11/30/2023 from 9:43am to 10:48am. There were (3) children in care with the vendor (10 points). The children were playing with toys and being held. Interactions between the children and vendor were positive. The inspector reviewed (3) children?s records and (3) adult/household member records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-270-A
Description: Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances such as cleaning agents, disinfectants and deodorizers were not stored away in areas inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1. Cleaning products were stored under the bathroom sink that children use in the cabinet and were accessible to children.
2. Cleaning products were stored under the sink in the kitchen cabinet and were accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: I will fix the locks today.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-430-B
Description: Based on review of records and interview, the vendor did not maintain a record of the dates of the practice drills for one year.
Evidence:
1. The vendor had record of the practice drills for September 2023, October 2023 and November 2023, but stated she had throw away the record with the additional 9 months of drills.

Plan of Correction: I will keep the drill record for last year.
