Comments:
An unannounced annual subsidy inspection was conducted on 4/15/2024 from 11:30 to 12:15. The vendor had 4 children in care at the time of the inspection. A total of 10 points. When the inspector arrived the children and provider was having snacks on the grass after a walk to the local playground. The children were also observed playing inside and getting ready for lunch.
The lunch was hotdogs, rice, steamed vegetables and strawberries.
Lots of interaction between the vendor and children observed. The vendor has lots of room and many different materials to explore and play. A violation notice was given to the vendor along with this inspection summary. Please call me at 703-203-8650 or email me at pernille.brandt@doe.virginia.gov if you have any questions regarding this inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-190-B
Description: Based on the review of children's records, the vendor failed to get an emergency contact for 1 child.
Evidence: Revied 4 children's files. One child, Child 3, is missing an emergency contact other than the parents. The emergency contacts on the form are the parents.

Plan of Correction: I will explain to the parents that I need another emergency contact that can not be them.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-360-H-2
Description: Based on the review of the crib used for sleeping for one of the children, the vendor failed to have a mattress that fit snugly.
Evidence: During the inspection the crib had a large foam mattress that had the end folded down, the mattress doe not fit snugly in the crib.

Plan of Correction: I will get rid of that mattress and I will transition the child to a cot, she is over 12 months.
