8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day homes

Comments:
An in-person move inspection was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on April 29, 2024, between the hours of 9:30am to 10:30am. There were four (10pts) children in care and no children living in the home under the age of 12 present with the vendor. The inspector reviewed four children?s records and three adult/household member records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the vendor.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-190-B
Description: Based on record review, children's records did not contain the required information.
Evidence:
1. Child #1's record (Start date-07/21/2023) did not documentation of proof of the child's identity and written authorization to administer prescription or nonprescription medication.
2. Child #2's record (Start date-07/21/2023) did not documentation of proof of the child's identity and written authorization to administer prescription or nonprescription medication.
3. Child #3's record (Start date-07/21/2023) did not documentation of proof of the child's identity and written authorization to administer prescription or nonprescription medication.
4. Child #4's record (Start date-11/29/2023) did not documentation of proof of the child's identity and written authorization to administer prescription or nonprescription medication.

Plan of Correction: The vendor will ensure to complete emergency procedures each month and document the procedures on the Emergency Drills log sheet.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-430-A-1
Description: Based on documentation review and interview, the vendor did not practice evacuation procedures at least monthly.
Evidence:
1. The evacuation procedures were not practiced for the months of February and March.
2. The vendor confirmed that the emergency procedures for the months of February and March were not practiced.

Plan of Correction: The vendor will view the children's birth certificate and document the records. The vendor will use the department's model form for medication policy and have the parents to review and sign it. The children's records will be documented.
