Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contact, documentation review, interview, and a virtual tour of the program.

A Code Compliance inspection was initiated on 3/8/22 and concluded on 3/25/22. The person in-charge was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were three children present, ranging in age from 18-months to 22-months-old, with one staff supervising. Three child records, two staff records, and two volunteer records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

If you have questions regarding this inspection you may contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-D-2
Description: Based on record review, the religious exempt child day center did not ensure that they obtained a search of the central registry for a volunteer who was expected to be alone with one or more children within 30 days of beginning service. Evidence: Staff reported that Volunteer #1 drives the schoolage children to and from school each day. The record for Volunteer #1, who began service on 9/17/21, did not contain the results of a search of the central registry.

Plan of Correction: We will ensure that a search of the central registry will be obtained for Volunteer #1.
