22VAC40-111 Medication Administration
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with provider, two assistants, and one 13 year old volunteer. There were ten day care children present totalling 19 points. The children were engaged in a variety of free play activities including coloring on the ipad, playing a group game, watching a movie, and playing with age appropriate toys. One staff file and two children's files were reviewed. Provider does not administer medication - Medication Administration Training is required to administer medication. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-750-A Description: Based on review of two children's records, the provider failed to obtain written parent authorization to administer at least annually. Evidence: Child A did not have a current sunscreen authorization; the last documented authorization was signed 12/2013. Plan of Correction: Provider will get the sunscreen authorization signed annually.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A Description: Based on interview, the provider failed to obtain sixteen annual training hours as required. Evidence: the provider did not receive 16 hours of annual training this licensure period. Plan of Correction: Provider will take a minimum of 16 training hours this licensure period.
