Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated and concluded on 2/23/2023. There were 46 children present with 8 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of Administration, Staff Qualifications and Training, Physical Plant, Staffing and Supervision, Programs, Special Care Provisions and Emergencies and Special Services. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 8:00 am and concluded at 11:05 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.?

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-630-C-2
Description: Based on observation and staff interview the center did not ensure that in areas used by children of preschool age or younger, electrical outlets shall have protective covers that are of a size that cannot be swallowed by children.
Evidence: Staff confirmed that electrical outlets did not have protective covers in the following areas:
In the 2-year-old classroom 3 outlets did not have protective covers
In the 1-year-old classroom 4 outlets did not have protective covers
In the 3-year-old classroom 3 outlets did not have protective covers

Plan of Correction: "The observation was corrected once the inspection was over. Every electrical outlet was covered in the building as needed.
Every outlet has been covered."

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-640-A
Description: Based on observation and staff interview the center did not ensure hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: In the Two Year Old Classroom, staff confirmed the following:
1. All items were labeled keep out of reach of children and at least one other statement of caution, flammable or warning.
2. There was one can of disinfectant spray and an air freshener in an unlocked cabinet at floor level.
3. There was one, 1 gallon sized, container of bleach and 2 spray bottles of all purpose cleaning solution in an unlocked cabinet under the hand washing sink.

Plan of Correction: The observation was corrected once the inspection was over. Every chemical that belongs to that classroom was placed in a safe locked area. It cannot be reached by any children.
