Discussion of enrollment, staffing, and the upcoming summer camp program in regards to required documentation.

An in-person, annual code compliance inspection was initiated and concluded by a representative from the VDOE, Office of Child Care Health and Safety (Fairfax) on 03/15/2023, between the hours of 10:00 am through 1:30 pm. There were 75 children present, ranging in toddler-age to preschool-age, 18 months/years to 5 years, with 16 staff supervising, across a total of 7 classrooms. The inspector reviewed compliance in the following areas: posting of the written disclosure statement, qualifications, physical plant, capacity, food services, health reports, ratio and staffing, supervision, handwashing, daily health screenings, staff trainings, and background checks. The Inspector reviewed (6) staff records to ensure that the documentation was complete and in compliance.
Information gathered during the inspection determined (1) area of non-compliance with applicable code sections, and this violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4 Description: Based on review, 1 of 6 staff files indicated that the facility did not obtain a search of the child abuse and neglect registry (CPS check) or equivalent registry from any state in which an individual staff person has resided in the preceding five years before reporting to work.
Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (03/15/2023), an out-of-state CPS check was not available for review for Staff #7.
2. The start date for Staff #7 was listed as 11/22/2022. Staff #7 was observed providing care at the facility on the date of inspection.Plan of Correction: A CPS check for the applicable state is being sent (within 10 days). Once finding is obtained, it will be reviewed by our inspector (LI). The finding will then be placed on file.
