Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the family day home, the provider did not ensure that child -resistant protective covers larger than 1-1/4 inches in diameter shall be installed on all unused electrical outlets and surge protectors accessible to children under five years of age. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 13, 2017, there were three uncovered electrical outlets in the surge protector in the back room. All of the children in care were under five years of age.

Plan of Correction: Surge Protector will be moved.

Description: Based on observation and inspection of the family day home, the provider did not ensure that the diapering surface shall be cleaned and sanitized after each use. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 13, 2017, the licensing inspector observed the provider changing a child's diaper. After the diaper change, the provider sprayed the surface with a bleach/water solution and allowed the surface to air dry before wiping it down. The provider did not clean the diapering surface before sanitizing it. "Cleaned" means treated in such a way as to remove dirt and debris by scrubbing and washing with soap and water or detergent solution and rinsing with water.

Plan of Correction: A cleaning solution will be used.

Description: Based on observation and inspection of the family day home, the provider did not ensure that soiled diapers and wipes shall be disposed of in a leak-proof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the caregiver's hand nor the soiled diaper or wipe touches the exterior surface of the storage system during disposal. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 13, 2017, the licensing inspector observed the provider changing a child's diaper. The provider used her hand to lift the lid of the trash can to dispose of the soiled diapers.

Plan of Correction: The trash can will be moved to the right side of the changing table so that it is accessible to the provider and the foot pedal will be used.
