- Technical Assistance:
The inspector and the provider discussed the Medication Administration Diabetes training. New background check requirements, including length between renewals, were discussed.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on September 14th 2017 between 9:00am and 11:00am. There were 11 children (22 points) in the direct care of 2 staff members. Children were observed listening to a story, talking about the weather and what articles of clothing go with the different types of weather, identifying colors, washing hands, eating snack, and working in various stations including art, gluing, grocery, and building. Staff were observed to be consistently engaged with the children, redirecting children to different activities, and assisting children with hand washing. The home is clean and organized and offers an abundant amount of materials for the children to utilize.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-C Description: Based on observation and interview, documentation of the emergency evacuatino drills and shelter-in-place drills was not maintained. Evidence: The provider stated that drills were conducted for each session each month, but it was not documented. The last drill was documented on January 17th 2017 Plan of Correction: Will catch up the documentation
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-180-A Description: Based on observation, 2 of 2 staff records did not contain a current report of Tuberculosis screening form every two years from the date of the first screening. Evidence: Staff #1 last had a documented screening 5/27/2015 and staff #2 last had a documented screening 8/11/2015 Plan of Correction: Will get the TB test current.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B Description: Based on observation, child-resistant protective covers were not install on all unused electrical outlets. Evidence: Two outlets in the child-choice space did not have protective coverings. Plan of Correction: Will cover the outlets
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-c Description: Based on record review, 1 of 3 household records reviewed did not contain repeat background checks before three years since the dates of the last checks. Evidence: Household member #1 last had a criminal record check 9/05/2013. Plan of Correction: It has been sent out and we are waiting for it to come back.
