Consultation was given on the new background requirements, emergency preparation, trainings for assistants (16 hours per year) and outside play area.
An unannounced renewal study was conducted today from 10:15-11:50. Seven children plus her daughter were in care for twenty three points with three caregivers. Observed infant care, bottle feeding, napping procedures and outside play. Reviewed two children's records, provider and two assistant records, emergency drills, nutrition and first aid preparation. Provider has 25 hours of annual training. Dedicated space in the basement is set-up for children in care with five cribs for infants. Parents bring lunch from home. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-A Description: Based on record review 1 of 2 children's records was incomplete. Evidence: Child #1 was missing a second emergency contact. Plan of Correction: Provider will email the parent to request a second emergency contact.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-200-C Description: Based on record review, 2 of 2 assistant records do not contain orientation documentation. Evidence: The two assistant records do not contain documentation that the provider and assistant covered policies and procedures for the family day home. Both were hired January 2017. Plan of Correction: Provider will download the model orientation form and have the assistant caregivers sign the form after confirming all information was reviewed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation, an area of the outside play area is not maintained in a safe manner. Evidence: A wire fence runs along the backyard between the provider's home and her neighbors that is rusted and has metal that could scratch the children. Plan of Correction: Provider will have the metal fence removed.
